I'm looking to get a slammed 1999 2wd regular cab short bed get Sierra with a 4.3 in it it's a 5 speed.. I want to make a street truck so the 4.3 won't work I have a 1999 ext cab 5.3 4x4 with a blown trai and want to drop the 5.3 in it I'm wondering around the whole project will cost and problems I will run into

It's the same trans they put behind a 4.8. It should be fine.

Use the harness from the 5.3. I believe the 4.3 harness is different.

Here is my swap where I did the same thing.

pretty much a plug and play. I took the fuel lines from the donor truck as well. You can get it running and driving with the 5.3 harness by jumping the correct wires at the range selector switch connector to tell the ECU it is in park or neutral.

yes, It's still going strong with a cam, longtubes an exhaust and tune.
