Lifting my 04 Silverado 4x4 5.3 1/2 ton soon 6 inch rcx and 35 12.50 17 inch tires I now have the 3.73 and debating on 4.56 or 4.88 gears? Need help! I do a lot of city driving but also haul quads either in bed or in a trailer and may pull a camper .

$800-1200. Depending on what brand gears you go with and if you change any other parts. 4.88s will pull great especially if your mostly in city and hauling.

4.88's are fun but if you drive a lot on the highway and like to drive over 70mph expect to be up in the rpms. will be nice for towing though since you'll probably be going 65 anyways.

4.56 will be a good all around gear.

If you do more hauling/city driving than highway cruising, then go with 4.88 if the opposite then go with 4.56

I was skeptical at first but I couldn't be happier. Truck no longer struggles to get up to speed and rpms aren't through the roof

Your truck will be just fine with 4.88's and not only will your truck do 80, if you get a tune it'll do 110mph! The difference b/t 4.56 and 4.88 is like 200 rpm at 70mph. It's not a big deal at all b/t the 2.

I'm sure he knows the speed by experience :head:

But definitely go 4.88 - 5.13.

personally I would do 5.13 for your truck due to what you said you do with the truck but 4.88s will get the job done aswell
