I'm getting ready to do the intake gaskets on my 99 Silverado 4.8L and have a couple questions I'm hoping someone can answer for me. How do you handle the fuel injectors? Can I leave them in the intake or do I have to remove them? and do you have to pull the galley cover to get to the knock sensors? Thank you!

Pull the intake manifold off. Injectors still in the manifold. Intake manifold gaskets just clip onto the intake mani. And once the intake mani is off, knock sensors are right there.

Make sure you make a RTV dam around the knock sensors!

You will need a 10mm & a 8mm socket, a swivel, and some extensions.
If you want to take the intake mani right out of the truck (you should, clean things up while your in there) you need fuel line disconnect tools. Cheap. I got 6 plastic ones for $11. Worked like a charm.

Did you use new bolts? I was reading someplace that you should replace the bolts too. I don't know how true it is tho.
New bolts on the intake? not a chance. They are 8mm bolts, and stay clean. No need to replace. Then are held in place with bushings anyways.

OK thank you for the input. I had never herd of intake bolts being replaced before but just wanted to be sure as i have never worked on these style of engines.
Yea don't worry about the bolts. Just make sure everything is clean, and don't be surprised if under your intake manifold is a whack load of gunk. Mine was discusting
