The blazer i just bought has a 400 small block with a 2 barrel carb. Wondering how much power increase i would gain with say an edelbrock intake and 4 barrel carb? Anything else under say $500 that i can slap on to make it a little more spunky besides exaust? (straight pipes for me :rocking: )

You will gain lots.
Headers, cam, mallory unilite (sp). I love those mid 70s and earlier cars. You can keep bolting sh!t on them and they keep getting faster.
haha kevs right, with a cam and an intake you could be beastly :head:
Intake , Carb , and Headers is a good start .. :D

You will have to rework the heads soon , if they where built for a 2 barrel set up...

Dont go straight pipe ... You will lose alot of bottom end , and in those years truck you need as much as you can .
viking, he has to run straight pipes, hes a *******:read:

This guy knows his stuff!

I'll probably go with a glasspack, after i tear around with the straight pipes for a while. :rocking:

So im guna find an edelbrock intake manifold, a 4-barrel carb, and some headers for now.. along with new plugs, wires, and just a basic tune up to get me a little more UMMPHH :naughty:

Not much a difference. Get them hot and hit them with some water. Then you will have no difference.

what do you mean?
kevindepot.. you dont think a ******* dont know that trick! :D

OrangeCrush, if you go rod around on glasspacks for a while get them nice and hot, then squirt them with your garden hose the heat/cold reaction breaks the glass and what not inside the glasspack, and makes them pretty much a straight pipe.
ohh thats crazy
Back when I was in high school. Loooooooooong before you were ever Daddy's little squirt. The law was simple. You had to have mufflers that the cop could look under and see. Glasspacks were great. Blow them out and he couldn't ticket you for noise because you had mufflers on. They could only ticket if you were uncorked.
I know if I were to ever actually go the route of glasspacks, I wouldn't blow out the glass. The only way I could see this useful is if you do "race" at like 100+ mph where its all horsepower then, and don't have to worry about torque or if you have forced induction and need all that extra air to escape. I think torque is very important, esp for a 4x4. It might sound cool, but performance wise, I don't like that idea.
