I have a 86 Stepside with Dual Tanks, which from what i gather, is a rare option... It has a Mildly built 350 i did myself. 268/280 Comp Cam. Comp Pushrods, Lifters, and Timing Chain. Dart S/R Heads. Holly Carb 600cfm and Street Avenger Intake. the Bottom end remains untouched... It has low compression, pretty Depressing. Plus i've been through two 700R4 Trannys and on the 3rd one now. And 3.08 gears, Peg leg... but I have access to a 5.3 Vortec out of a 2005 Silverado for $300. I been Considering it pretty hard, i want to put that 5.3 in my truck. I'm just kinda nervous about it cause i know nothing of the electronic engines... Where do i get a Controller Kit for it? How Much? Do i have to get a 4L60-E? Thanks in Advance.

I want the Fuel Injection. Bout tired of Carb Trouble. i'm wanting to get rid of the Holley i got on it... maybe try Edelbrock...
You're better off with the Holley. The Edelbrock on my buddy's 68 k20 likes to tune itself. He will have it running nice, with a perfect mix. Gets about 12 mpg (4wd, 33s and 5.13s). 2 weeks later he will be getting 5 and it's running rich as hell, almost won't run. So he has to pop the hood and turn the screw again.

Mine is running so rich you can smell the raw gas at a stoplight from a car infront of me.... it's bad... The Timing is also messed up... i believe when i set the Distributor from the build, the engine wasn't top dead center...

You should check out the 67-72chevytrucks.com engine forum. They have a complete section just for LSx swaps.
Agreed I got a lot of good info from there. I did a 5.3 swap with my 78ish and i LOVE IT' best investment ever. I can go right out fire it up and drive it with no worries at all. I will tell you DO YOUR RESEARCH when you do these swaps there is a lot of little gremlins that you will come upon and the more prepared you are the better off. Don't rush and get a friend who know's wiring. It's not REALLY complicated but if your afraid of it just study up you will be fine. Good luck. If you would like to see my build thread just look up my user name i have them on about 5 diff sites ;-)
