I even had a guy on IG message me and say "hey i see you've got that bar and mount....does yours howl?"

I thought it was just me. But apparently he has the same . And reading reviews online confirms it. I didn't even read the reviews before buying. I was like "it's 2 brackets, there's nothing to it"

I was wrong.

So instead of "that's" how i plan to fix my rust

You meant "a way different than that" is how i plan to fix my rust

Because "that" didn't involve any sheet metal cutting. That's why it didn't click in my mind

So cutting out sheet metal, welding something like rectangle tube to the sheet metal?

Come to think of it, i saw a dude with an Escalade do it that way. I should have pieced together what you meant.

I'm picturing something like this

Jeep wrangler rock sliders always attach to the sheet metal. Seems to work just fine.

The kids still need a step. And so the rectangle tube needed to be a touch lower for when the step is attached. Plus this is just a hair above the bottom of the frame Rail so i didn't lose any clearance anyway.

Plus i like being able to put a high lift jack anywhere on the side and jack it up.
I'm sure i could jack it up by the body. But it seems better to jack from the frame

Idk, that looks like if it slid hard enough on something and bent up even just a little, those doors aren’t going to open anymore.

I ordered a SmittyBilt gen 3 X20 12,000 winch.

I guess winch bumper building to come. Can't decide how I'm even going to do it yet.

I don't want it to be below the bottom of the frame Rail. But there might not be enough space between the frame rails.

We'll just have to see when the winch gets here and i start looking at how it will fit

Bro there is more room than you think between the rails. Its 25" inside of the rails.

What i mean is that I'd bet a bunch of money that the available 25-1/2" is still not enough to properly fit the 22.3" long winch.

But i won't know until i have it in hand
