I've been dreaming about starting this build since I was a little kid and it has finally happened. This was my grandfathers truck that he bought back in '78 for my uncle to take to college at The University of Tennessee. It has been in our family since then and garage kept since I can remember. It was originally a baby blue color but my grandfather had it all re-done back in '97. I've got all the maintenance records and it's been well taken care of as well.

Specs:
1967 Chevrolet C10
250 i6
3-speed on the column
No AC
No Power brakes
Small window
Step side bed

When my grandfather had it and when we took newborn pics of my son.

To make a long story short, my grandfather got sick and had to sell his cars. Without me knowing one guy bought them all to then resell them. He keep the C10 to start a project of his own, but when he found out I wanted it, he sold it back to me at cost. He only had it 2-3 weeks and never even titled it. All he had done was change the wheels/tires, lower it, clean the fuel system and rebuild the carb. The coils need to be replaced though cause the guy that did it just heated the factory ones so it rides like shit. Because the rear is trailing arms/coils the trac bar needs to be replaced, because now it's out of alignment since it's been lowered.

Rear tire rubbing frame due to trac bar

I don't have any concrete plans yet, but it's going to be a LONG build. I know I want to completely re-do the suspension, hopefully on RideTech's kits or something similar. More than likely an LS swap of some sort, just need to work through that as well. 4 wheel disc brakes. Then obviously tons of paint and body work.

In the short term, I'm going to just replace all the coils and shocks and get it riding better. Then just drive it for a while and enjoy it. I'm hoping to re-stain the bed floor this winter too.

So far I've ordered:

CPP adjustable trac bar
New clear parking lens
New reverse lens
License plate lens ( had been painted over since '97)
New smaller factory style side mirrors

As it sits now

I need a bigger garage...

Sweet truck, cool story behind it as well. I second the LS swap notion.

Great build and background on it. It is awesome to keep a nice truck like that in the family.

IMO I would keep the stance just like it is but just upgrade the suspension with the correct parts like you want to do. And if you keep the wheels I would paint them white to flow with the bumpers and grill.

I am always in a search for a 67-72 C-10 with the fleetside shortbox but they are hard to come by and if I find one it is way out of my price range.

Sub'd for the progress on yours.

Thanks guys!!

I got a few parts in and a few installed.
CPP adjustable track bar

Old mirrors

Mocking up new mirror

Filler plugs for old mirrors until bodywork happens. I'll paint match them green soon.

Old reverse lights (I polished the ring)

New reverse lights

Also got the clear parking lens installed but forgot to take a picture.

Hoping to get the track bar and mirrors mounted this weekend so I can drive it to the October Cars and Coffee here in Nashville the next weekend.

Decided to do some PM on this truck this week. Got the oil changed first. Then decided to check the plugs and air filter. This is what I found.

All 6 look like this

Then I found this on top of the carb when I pulled the air cleaner off

Working through a new HEI distributor install right now. Also got new plugs and plug wires. While I was at it a replaced all the wires for the ignition, starter, oil pressure and water temp back to the distribution block. Just waiting on some terminal connectors to finish the wiring and then I can start it up and set timing.

I know the red cap really stands out... I'll spray it black eventually.
