Well, the time has come.

As I have collected the parts and done a little bit of work, I figured I'd start to document my progress in swapping my 700R4 out for a NV4500.

What $400 and 3 hours of time got me.

And all the other stuff that makes the conversion work

After doing a little more research and figuring out what parts I need, I ordered a bunch of other stuff.

3/4 ton and up stick Chevy/GM trucks, some 1/2 tons it could be special ordered in. I think the NV4500 started around 92 or so, but I'm not completely sure. They also came in Dodge 94-newer.
My 1994 K-2500 (8,600 gvw) had a NV-4500, I had it rebuilt at 192,000 miles (Also had a NEW 454 from GMC swapped out by an ASE shop for the original- it came w/ 3 year -100,000 warranty) the NV-4500 is a "Bullet Proof" transmission, stock my GMC has a 4:10 gearing, it's a 4x4 . Since all I've put in the beast , it's still holding 60-80 lbs. of oil pressure. All fluids are Royal Purple. I refuse to pay $70,000+ for a truck that won't last as long as the one I have. It's a shame we who have been loyal to GM are being taken advantage of. Total cost for the truck that I have is $22,000.00 ,I have 50,000 on the rebuild and foresee no problem's. Now I'm disabled and 64 I'll keep running "non-ethanol 91 octane" and Royal Purple. I'm sure you will be Happy with the service from the NV-4500
