First off i am new to your site. I am a Jeep guy and some of the best help and advice I have been given was from a forum site like this one but for Jeeps. So my expectations are high..My father-in-law and I bought a 71 Chevy lwb with a well built 350. The PO did a nice job except for the AC and alternator mounts. The power steering pump seems to be the only thin in the correct place. Ours has the Alt. Mounted on the passenger side, where the AC should mount. Now we bought an extra 4 bolt main 350 mainly for the brackets. It has the alternator on the drivers side, the AC on the pass and the psp down low on the drivers side. We thought we were good. However the bracket for the alt will not fit on our 350 ( no threaded holes in the drivers side head). So my question to you guys is how should it mount and what am I missing. I've been looking a pics and I can't see any rhyme or reason as to which side the alt should be on. Our goal is to get this back to as stock as we can. I will go ahead and say please and thank you for any help you can give.......I will try and get some pictures tomorrow of what we have.......go hogs go

From what i'm gathering from alot of pics, it all depends on the heads and belt setup that could have been changed thru out the years. I have a 78 with a newer crate motor possibly from the 90s but is carb and my alt is on the pass side. Stock heads, 3 belt setup. Also the pics ive seen of a 350 in a chevelle or nova vs a c10 show the 350 in a car alt is on the pass side, in a c10 is on the driver side. Not sure if any of this helps
