A/C performance in heat

How is your all's A/C performing in this upper 90 to 100 degree heat? Mine is slowing down when I'm in stop and go traffic, seems like it is not blowing cold air at all when I'm sitting still. Though it blows ice cold when I'm driving. Is this normal or should I have it checked?

Blows cold all the time, and yeah, it get hot here.... It's normal to blow colder while you are , but should still blow cold at a stop...
Every chevy we have had has been like that... My dad just took his s10 in for that to the local a/c shop and they resealed the comrpessor and recharged it and it's ice cold now. I'm taking my chevy in one of these days when I can afford it.
the alternator could also be the culprit. Most of them are only 105 amps, that's why all 2005's come with 145 amp alts

Mine works fine on my 98, its cold t stop or go, I just recently replaced the Battery, but thats the first time I've used the A/C since I bought it.
mine works fine in my truck even today when it said 106 on my mirror :worship:
Well, the more air you have coming across the condensor the better cooling you will get. The clutch fan doesn't help with that. When you are sitting in traffic it doesn't pull much air, but when the engine is spun up it sucks tons. However, it should still blow cool when sitting in traffic.

Sounds to me like you might be just a touch low on 134a. I would not go as far as saying the compressor is shot or dying without verifying it has the proper level of refridgerant.
the a/c robs me of my precious HP... i'll use the ol 2/80 method.
my a/c vibrates really bad so i dont use it much...one day i will quit being lazy and go at it
Its too friggen cold here to use the a/c....

Yes, I am in New Mexico...
My A/C will freeze me out of the truck, since lately I've been driving a Toyota Corolla lately (beater) to save gas, it's A/C isn't as good .. the beginning of summer I had the system evacuated and recharged, cost me $45 ... it's been pretty good, it doesn't cool as good at a red light thought either ... last few days it had started to not be as cold, so I bought a recharge kit at Wal-Mart. The system was at about 25 PSI (lower end of normal) and I filled it up till about 40 PSI (upper end of normal) .. cools better now :head: .. the kit was $32 with a reusable gauge and 3 cans of 134a.
mine doesnt work well or at all so i roll down the windows. precious gas must be saved

They say there is no real savings riding with the windows open versus riding with them closed and the A/C on. From all the wind resistence ... but I'm the same, if I'm low on gas I shut off the A/C and ride with the windows down.

I tend to believe that at freeway speeds that makes a difference, but around town with the stop and go all the time, I think it is more economical to do the windows.

I havn't used my A/C since sometime in May...
doesnt really matter, because I tried it for about 10 minutes and it was only a fraction colder than the windows open anyway :flame:

mines ice cold. maybe my 5% tint on all the windows in a reg. cab truck help.

anybody ever make there vents steam? we were driving on the highway and my wife got cold so rather then move her temp. up, she pushed the bottom to turn the a/c off. so now its just the fan and vent going. a couple minutes it got warm in there so i turned pushed the a/c button, and stream came from the vents. it was kinda cool lookin.
