Found an AAM 14 bolt from a 2003 chevy 1 ton SRW with disc brakes on it. I'm going to be installing on a 1991 1/2 ton Suburban. Any issues with newer axle other than spring perch location and u-joint? Anybody know the smallest diameter wheel that'll work? I'd like to run 16s, but I haven't bought wheels yet so 17s would work if I had to. I know I'll probably have to upgrade my master cylinder as well. Any help is greatly appreciated.

16's will work just fine. They came stock on my 2001 11.5" AAM and I've run aftermarket 16" wheels no problem. Not many issues with these axles other than the price of gears and lockers is high. If you 4.11's I have some BNIB with a yukon install kit I'd sell.

Thanks for the info. Axle has 3.73s. Not ideal, but I only plan on running 35s. Axle already has complete disc setup on it. Direct bolt in or did you have to move spring perches?

My axle came stock in my 01 HD. 3/4 ton dmax and 8.1 trucks got the 1 ton 11.5" from the factory.
