In my 2003 Silverado, am having issues with my AC not blowing out quite cold but not hot air either.. I cant see the compressor to check to see if it is kicking on, and I cannot get a reading on the freon level without the compressor being on. How do I go about "jumpstarting the compressor" to test it. The recirculate button causes the air movement to pickup, the snowflake button blows out hot air, and the auto digital climate control set at 64 degrees blows out cool air.. Anyone have any ideas on what to check? I have searched and found a few things, blend door actuator if one side if different than the other, but they are both the same, and a temp control actuator, or temp door something or another.. Any input is appreciated!

You try watching the RPM's when you turn the A/C on? Too me sounds like the refrigerant level could possibly be low.......

Ok, well managed to get some free time at work, and checked, the compressor kicks on when I select Auto, I have been keeping it set on 60, and changed it to 64 degrees, and now it blows cooler? However still when I press the snowflake button nothing but warm air, aside from half the lights being burnt out on the buttons what could be wrong here?? Also, I checked the pressure, it was sitting at 75 psi, I believe it should be closer to 50 on the low side correct?

My Tahoe had a new compressor and everything and still didn't blow cold air. It was a blend door motor problem. They wouldn't open and let the cold air in. Could be the problem.

How many miles are on the truck? Are the refrigerant lines under the hood getting cold when a/c is on?

Sorry, cant help, The compressor did go out in my 03. LUCKILY, for some reason, I bought had just bought the extended warranty a few months before. Truck had like 42,000 miles on it. I got lucky! It was in the middle of the summer, and the dealer told me it would be around $1000 to fix. He told me I was lucky that I bought the warranty. I told him that I knew i was lucky because I didn't really want to be trading in a truck with no A/C that day.

LOL. Checked it when? What were the ambient temps? Was the compressor running? Idle or 2k RPM?

Physics 101 tells us that if pressure goes up, so does temperature.

Honestly, if you have to ask this stuff you haven't done enough research and IMO, you're better off just dropping the truck off at a shop with full HVAC services.
