I am currently in the market for some new tires. I have Pro Comp Xterrain A/Ts on my truck now (35/13.5/18) and found a great deal on some Nitto Mud Grapplers. The only thing is that the Nittos are 35/12.5/18s, so the width, is 1" different.

Other than the obvious 1" difference, what will I notice going from the 13.5 to the 12.5? Is it that much different visually? And what about handling and traction? Will I notice a difference in that respect?

Basically just trying to figure out what differences I will see/feel all around. So any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Oh and dont get mud grapplers. The only way Id buy them would be to turn around and re-sell them

Some love them but damn they wear fast and look shitty brand new and worn down even worse.

True, just the width. Both are good tires. I have sold alot of the ProComps and have heard nothing but good things about them. Plus the Pro Comps have a 40K mile tread wear warranty....

I really like my Mud Grapplers, they look sick, they're noisy as hell, and have worn well for me so far. I'm getting 37's pretty soon and they're what I'll be running again.

It probably won't be a true 1" difference, you'd have to see what their actual tread width is when mounted onto a certain width wheel. It's probably really a 3/4" difference, which is nothing much.

my 13.5s nittos are much wider then my pro comp 12.5s xterrains. btw I love how the nittos look.

Depending on what your doing you might even get better traction. Skinnier tire means more weight in that area, which means more traction in the slop.

either super skinny or super wide in slop works. some sizes start to get akward. you either want to power over or run against the bottom, against something a little harder than just mud...

to a certain extent, skinner almost ALWAYS works better. i hate how wide my 42s are, but on the flipside, it could be x18 like the bigger boggers...

The main reason I am going with the 12.5 is because the place I found the best deal on the Nittos (Discounttiredirect.com) doesnt carry them in 13.5, to be honest, Im not sure that Nitto makes them in that size. Im currently running 35/13.5/18.

I guess all tires have their pros and cons. I have heard that the grapplers are noisy and wear pretty bad in comparison. But even if I wanted to go with the procomps again (I agree with ATOM, they do look weak) they cost a shit load more. On Discounttiredirect the Nittos are $1240 shipped to my door. I worked out a bartering deal with a friend of mine that needs some computer networking done, he's going to mount and balance them. So basically Im getting brand new Nittos delivered and installed for $1240.

I actaully wanted to go a little skinnier because I dont like the looks of the tires sticking out. I just didnt want the "inch" to be too much skinnier.

sweet..yes I believe nitto only makes 12.5 in a 35inch tire. Thats not a bad price. Im thinking about going back to 35s so im going to check that place out.

I got 15k miles out of my nitto's I didn't care that much for them, I wanted Toyo Mt's but they weren't in stock so I had to settle for the Nitto's.... There are alot of other tires out there that are better than the Nitto's.... Go with a BFG Krawler or something. When the Nitto's wear down they look like a Thornbird IMO...

i have seen and been looking at nittos for awhile... i know a few people who have thewm and if you dont do burnouts and drift with them the wear fine... they do come in a 35/13.5/18 i think.... about 95% sure on that
