i lowered my truck 4'' in the rear recently.I bottom out daily sometimes extremely hard at first the rear sit pretty level even with a full tank of gas but i looked at it today and the driver side is sitting about an inch lower with a quarter of a tank. I also noticed that the seal inside my bed where the floor connects to the side is bulged out. my question is am i doing any serious damage to my fame or suspension? Is it going to stay leaning like this? what do i need to look for damage wise? im concerned that im messing stuff up bad.i know i need a c-notch but i have to wait to get one so for now i am going adjust the shackle and lift the rear back up an inch. please help thank you.

is it bad to bottom out... yes thats like smacking things with a sledgehammer
how long you could get away with it depends on the severity, but from the way you are describing it i would fix it asap

notches are easy to do yourself. just take your time and support the frame well and get your lne up right. one of mine is off just a little, but not enough to matter

I'm not worried about the part its the labor I can't afford at the moment.
Notches look daunting as hell but they are not that bad...put a jack stand before and after the notch on the frame, leave the bed on and just take your time and do some good measuring, mark it all out and start cutting, then it's a matter of drilling some holes and you are good to go. It's time consuming but it's not hard at all.

def do a notch, and it sounds like you have the dreaded chevy lean. (Where the drivers side sits lower than the passenger side. I think the majority of lowered nbs's do this)

Just my input, but I've been bottoming out on those little poly button style bumpstops (which I'd at least get if you don't have them and can't afford a notch) for 8 years and 140K miles. And I've hauled/towed all kinds of stuff doing it. So far, so good.

The one and only notch I have done was on a NBS. It was a little intimidating, but belltech takes the guess work out with their detailed instuctions and pictures. You can download the instructions on there website. You should check them out.
