2001 Chevrolet 2500 HD 6.0L Strong coolant smell. Coolant seems to be leaking from the front of the engine. Oil is not milky. Is this a water pump problem, gasket problem or both? 116,000 miles I have searched other threads already and wanted to start my own, specific to my problem. I will be taking it to the mechanic this week. Just wondering what it might be and the approximate cost to fix.

Bad water pump, got it fixed. Bad part is I had to have my passenger side hub assembly replaced also. $939.00 later, both items are repaired.

I'll grab the invoice tonight and give the details/prices tomorrow. I hate that I got ripped. However, this makes it easier to weed out the "mechanics" in my area. Bad part is, I don't have time to fuck with this kind of stuff. I work a regular job and run a landscape maintenance co. on the side so time is not on my side and this is my work truck.
