I have an 04 crew cab 2500hd 4x4 and am buying a cognito lift this week.

I am going to run 37" tires and possibly(big maybe) 38"s in the future(distant future).

Which lift should I get? The 7-9 or the 10-12. The 10-12 is going to be about 1500-1800 MORE.

I need this kit to perform. My old 1500 with a fabtech lift and procomp shocks honestly rode F-in great and handled awesome. On numerous occasions I had her at pismo and was doing anywhere from 70-80 on the dunes and she took it amazingly.

I want to be able to do that in this truck as well. Is 10 to big? Will it handle good? I remember many members at pismo meets who had kits bigger than 6" inches would run into many problems or were to afraid to drive their truck out on the dunes. I want to be able to play with my truck and I honestly dont think a 10" lift can do that...what do you all think?

Be honest...dont say bigger is better...I need this truck to be an all around truck. Ride good. Look good. Handle good. Take abuse good.

Come on Saul haha. Do you ever check the Pismo meet pics/vids threads? :D

I guess since the truck is an HD the smaller kit would be fine for 37s. But my rig handles fine out there. So did Mauros and he ran the 12" FTS and 38s.

Its been a while.

Honestly though the last time I went you didnt have the cognito lift and I honestly dont think I ever seen mauro break 40mph on anything other than a straight away lol

I am thinking the 7-9 will be fine for me(possible body lift years down the road)...but I dont want to regret not getting the 10-12 later on down the road. And after this last truck getting taken away from me (getting hit) I am kind of wary of spending to much money on a lift.

You know? You know.

Hit up 209sincal! He has my bro's 10-12 and he's lookin to get rid of it!
PM'd you

edit: never mind its for a 1500 not a 2500....

Have you considered the CST 9-11 kit?

I have a cognito 10-12 and I can tell you it performs in the dunes. The truck being so tall can feel pretty sketchy at times. Truck rides great though. I also pull a 23 foot toy hauler with the 10-12.

I'll be honest though. If I were to do the whole lift kit all over again I would buy a 7-9 inch. There are a few reasons for this. Most of the reasons involve the amount of tickets the CHP likes to hand out.

I had an 01 1500HD with a 6 inch fabtech lift. That truck was a lot more fun to drive in the dunes. Felt a lot more stable. I was running 35's on that truck.

get the 10-12in other wise you will have the 7-9 maxed out and it will ride like shit. but Cognito really makes a great high quality lift as well as a very complete kit. and you would have some trouble fitting 38s for sure under the 7-9 with out rubbing issues.

my brother has the 4-6 kit and it rode awesome when it was set on 4in and he had 33's now that it is cranked to 6in it rides like shit but there are no problems with the lift!
