FINAL OUTPUT PICS ON PAGE 9

Hello Gents,

Here is the beginning of my HID retrofit on my 2002 Silverado.
I just received the last of my materials today in the mail, and they are as follows:

- 06-08 Acura TSX projectors with fresnal lenses
- replacement clear e30 lenses (for projectors)NOT ANYMORE
- hidgate slim ballasts
- the retrofit source relay harness
- the retrofit source 9006-D2S bulb adapter
- Phillips 85122+ 4300K xenon bulbs
- Ebay clear/black headlight housings (maybe)

Heres a pic of some of the stuff:

And here are the housings i will be using:

Today I went ahead and attempted to get the lenses off the housings..didnt work out as well as i wanted it too. I put them in the oven for about 10 mins or so on 300 degrees. then used a screwdriver and sharp ass knife combo to pry them open...in retrospect i would have left them in for about 17 mins on 300...then i think they would have come off easier.

The back part of the housings is like a really soft metal, and it breaks and cracks easily. I think i will be able to salvage them but im not sure, i broke a pretty big piece off, that i am attempting to JB weld back together. Hopefully it works.

I will be usings D-Bobs write up Click Here as a general guideline for my project here. so feel free to read up on his HID retrofit.

Thats all i have for today, i will try to update you all as much as possible with this build, but i really want to take my time and do everything right...well i guess im already off on a bad foot when i fudged my housings...but oh well.

Oh and those of you interested in HID retrofitting, shoot over to HID Planet and check out the forums.

Also The Retrofit Source is a good place to buy stuff for retrofitting.

Got some work done on the projectors today

JB weld is awesome!

Been working on the housings for a few days, got them torn apart, so i can work with the back part of the housing.

then i dremmeled a hole in the back and started test fitting a projector in it.

excuse this next pic, i tore the shit out of the housings when i was trying to get the lense off...you can see on the top part there. but now worries you wont be able to see it when its all put back together

Here is what i ended up with today, nothing is bolted in, its jsut purely for show right now. but i think it looks damn good.

So yea, ill post some more pics later maybe tomorrow.

Wow! That looks clean man. How much you got in materials so far? Since your no longer using the chrom reflector I think you should paint the whole light black except the high beam area. Since it needs the chrome to reflect light. It would match your turn signals better.
Nice to see a proper hid setup :head3:

im gonna be making some sort of shroud so that all you see on the low beam side is the actual projector.

What i have right now is a simple mock up, nothing is set in stone on it, i just wanted to see how it would look.
You just answered my question.. I was gonna ask what you were going to do for a shroud. Anyways love what your doing here. Are you going to color mod these or are the E30 lenses a direct drop in? I havent been that active in the retrofit scene for about a year or so but I really want to get mine done. I have a set of FX/300zx projectors just waiting to go into my denali housings.

oh and
subscribed! I want to get this done on these crappy ebay projectors I got one day. Looking good so far.
way to go and actually do it the right way. those TSX with the clear lenses are NUTS. do you plan to color mod them at all?
How much you got in materials so far?
man, i dont even know...ive been collecting parts for a while. for the housings i think 80 bucks, for the projectors 130 bucks, for the e30 lenses 60 bucks, for the hidgate ballasts, i think 70 bucks, and for the relays, adapters and bulbs about 160 bucks combined. So prolly around 500 bucks. plus some other misc materials like the jb weld, nuts & bolts, the dremel etc....def not a cheap mod.

not sure what i will use for the shroud...i gotta think about what type of material would look best in there. and also ive been told that the e30 lenses with the tsx projectors are a direct drop in and will provide wicked color. but im not sure if i will have to color mod the tsx projectors like most people do with the regular clear tsx lenses. i will have to ask some ppl over at hidplanet for that answer.

well ive decided i think i wanna ditch these housings.........they are a pain in the fucking ass. I think im gonna buy some new housings with a projector already built into it, and work from there. i think it would be easier.

with these housings its REALLY hard to aim the projector, and even if i got one done, i dont think i could get the other one to be exactly the same.

here are the housings im looking at buying, let me know what you think

cant you just get them as close as you possibly can and adjust them using your adjusters for the headlight?
hmm that is a good observation.....ill try that first before i buy anything
try to get them level side to side as good a you can so that you can use the actual housing adjustments for up and down.
Damn thats pretty cool. I've never thought of anyone doing something like that. Looks good so far and good luck!
Nice, only seen one other retrofit on a silvy/tahoe. Done by a guy that does a lot of retrofits, mostly for wrx's
