I have a 1998 Silverado regular cab 4 wheel drive with 5.7/at... my brake lights, turn signals and everything is working like it should but when i hit the brakes it blows the stop/haz fuse under the dash... all I had on hand was a 30 amp so I put it in and now the orange wire running to the brake light switch starts to melt and everything dims down and the voltage drops down to around 11 or 12 volts.. I undone the plug to the harness that runs to the tail lamps to see if it was shorted between there and it still does the same thing.. I have also run the wires up the column checking them all the way to multi function and it still does the same even with the multi function switch unplugged.. I cant find any wires shorted out anywhere under the dash either.. anybody else know what could be the cause of this or ran into this problem before?? plz help!!!
