I was on the highway this morning headed to work. Was in 4th gear cruising, needed to pass someone. Give it some gas, drops down to 3rd, and by the time it shifts back to 4th, I notice the Check Engine Light blink 3 or 4 times. Try searching a little bit, with no luck. I am suppose to change my trans fluid soon, and I'm thinking maybe it is a warning indicating the fluid is getting too hot?

As always, any help/input would be appreciated.

Misfire.

Inspect and replace as necessary

Plugs, wires and fuel filter if applicable.
Shit, just replaced all of that within 5-10k. Hopefully it is just a plug wire, or plug. Is there any way of seeing if it is a bad filter?? Doesn't leak at all at the filter, so hopefully that is alright.

Doubt it's the filter - Could have a bad coil pack. Plug it in and pull the codes, post them up.

No coil pack, I got the 4.3L with distributor cap (puts on helmet to fight off the 4.3L bashing)

Thanks for all the response though, this is the first vehicle that I actually do all my maintenance on, so it's a rewarding learning process.

What a helmet for someone that drives a V6 powered full size pickup may look like:

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh fuck it's a 4.3?

Where did you get the cap?
NAPA (they are much better than Autozone around here.)

Denaliano, that pic = :rofljest:

Finally found a respectable shop to do a gear install, so I'm just waiting for some $ to install 4:10's or even 4:30's and possibly a Detroit Tru Trac as well.
