I noticed today that my tailgate cap is loose. I can pull two of the screw things that hold it on right out of the hole in the tailgate (black screw that is supposed to hold the cap, and the hex piece that it screws into). I assume the rivet nuts weren't used correctly when putting it on or something, do you guys have any idea?

This is for the chevy "spoiler" looking cap with the 4 torx screws holding it on.

Thanks, Jacob

dont mess with it too much! there is a threaded insert inside the tailgate itself that the torx screws into. I messed around with mine and the insert popped loose from the tailgate. Now i got a half unscrewed torx hanging out with no way to wind it back in or out!

Those are the pieces I can pull out of the gate. The torx are still screwed to them, but there is nothing holding them to the other side of the tailgate to snug the cap up. I assume the other pieces are in the bottom of the gate, but haven't gotten around to looking. Is there a hole in the bottom that they could be fished out from?
