Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum and new to owning a 2011 silverado. I'm sure you guys get these questions non stop, but I'm pretty lost and looking to learn a bit of DiY. This will be my first vehicle mod I've ever attempted so I'm trying to cover all the cracks in my plan. I'm looking at installing two 12 subs under the seats of my ext cab. Everything on the truck is stock atm. I'm open to any recommendations and tips you could give.

Parts I'm looking to use:

This box (already purchased): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IFEBC0K/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

These subs: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0036MOQCM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Amp: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004S4XNEO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Cords? (Not sure what else I need): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002VM8RU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Need some recommendations on a head unit. I don't care for the onstar, touch screen would be nice, no nav, usb and aux a must, unless, Bluetooth for streaming audio if that's a thing? (don't care for phone calls over BT) 200.00 or under would be preferred, higher is okay if you think its worth it. I tried to stay cheap on most things since this is my first time. Just to get a feel for it and in case i break something.

Basically I'm looking for any advice on how to go about this and if these parts are compatible/worth it? A step by step guide would be nice, but any advice and tips would be extremely welcome. Reading over the forum, there seems to be a lot of great people here. Parts and things should be here at the latest the 10th. I'll post lots of pictures and update while I'm doing the install. Thanks for taking time to read this, hopefully I can get some tips before i drive into this adventure.

Sorry doing this all on mobile, links keep messing up. Should be working now though. I'd also like to upgrade the speakers in the near future, nor sure if this will change any feedback or not.

That box has nowhere near the airspace for those subs. Plus, get anything besides those kicker comps. Their 10 needs 1 cubic foot of airspace and there are much better subs out there that dont need anywhere close to that.

Return that box and look into better subs

Unfortunately, it looks like you're going to be sending a lot of stuff back. Here's why:
1. The box is too small for just about every 12" sub on the market, you don't have enough volume for 12's, I don't know why they even make them.
2. Those particular 12's you got are even worse with the box volume situation. You have 0.6 cu. ft before sub displacement and those subs require 1.25-3.5 cu. ft as per Kicker. I know they really want to be closer to 1.75-2 cu. ft to sound worth a damn. That box is 1/3 of what it needs to be.
3. The amp is rated for 4 ohms mono (I think), 2 of those 12's would be 2 ohms mono. It gives a 4 ohm RMS rating but a 2 ohm peak rating so I'm a bit confused by that. Regardless, it's only good for about 300 watts RMS but if it's not meant to work at 2 ohms, you'll probably blow it up using it that way.
4. The wire kit is 4 ga, and the amp takes 4 ga, but the wire kit will be mostly insulation and really closer to 10 ga wire. That would be fine on that amp because the amp doesn't make enough power to need more than 10 ga.

I realize you're not trying to spend a lot of money, but there is no sense in spending any money if you won't be happy with it. I think you'd be happier overall getting a single 10 and a good amp, it would sound much better and possibly be just as loud or even louder.

Thanks for all the feedback. I do already own the subs and enclosure, they were a gift but i may be able to return them. I'm looking at properly sized boxes now, so i can keep them. What would be a compatible amp and wire kit to use with these? Price really isn't an issue, would like to stay under 300 though if possible on the amp. Still looking for a good head unit also.

You won't find a properly sized box, you don't have that much space. Under seat boxes they don't build to whatever size, they build to biggest size. $300 means price IS an issue, and it's not going to get you where you wanna be, especially when you can easily spend that on just the HU and what you need to connect it.

I ended up going to a car audio place, they guy walked me through everything i would need. I ended up going with JL audio subs, amp, and wire kit. Ordered a nice 500.00 pioneer touchscreen head unit with cables to keep steering wheel, onstar, etc. Also got a bypass to play video while not in park. I got everything wired up just waiting on the receiver to come in the mail. All in all everything was around $1600-1700. HU should be here tomorrow. Last thing i can't decide, where is the best spot to mount the amp?
