i currently have a t-400 in my 89 obs, i am putting in a 700r4, the truck origanlly had a 5 speed in it, so do i need the crossmember from the donor truck or will the crossmember i have bolt up to the 700r4? also will the driveshaft need to be replaced, the current one dits about 1 1/2 inches out of the tranny, i think it is the stock one for the 5 speed and the t-400 is shorter, also i will be baggin the truck so is it just better to wait and get a custom one made i would like to get an aluminum one, any suggestions?

Why not a 200-4R? It's a better trans. Same length as a midshaft TH350, so it should be close to the TH400

i thought about that, but i am gonna run a gear vendors under overdrive with it, so i still got that low first gear and the gv unit will compensate the huge diff between 1st and 2nd, and still have a double over drive. i know that the 200r4 has better ratios stock, but 1. i got this 700r4 for a steal, and i got the converter for free. with the gv unit i should be able to run a 4.88 or so rear gear and a 265-35-22 and still truck down the highway decent.

Have you priced a GV out?

200-4R has a 0.67:1 OD.

yeah i have i got one for 900 new from a guy i know for the 700r4 and i beileve that the 700r4 also has a .76od. with the gv double od it will be like .52 od. so i am pretty sure i can run 4.88's or so, talk about some burnouts! i also got the 700r4 for a steal

going to a 200 would be WAY more cost effective than a 350/400 with a GV....
