hello guys, I recently bought a 93 k1500 5.7. my temp never went over 120F. so I figured my thermostat was stuck open. When I went to change it there was no thermostat to be found. Well I put a new one (195F) in and it started to overheat so changed it out with a deferent one in and same problem. Took the thermostat out and it wont get over 120F. Could it be a bad/wrong water pump? I don't now by looking at it if I`m getting sufficient pressure.

thanks, Unk

Well tomorrow I'm going to replace the water pump and hope that works. If not I'm really not sure what I'm going to do. I guess just drive it with no thermostat and just be happy that its 110F

you probably have a bad radiator cap and the system wasn't holding pressure, or for whatever other reason causing the system to not hold pressure. aside from that the other big cause is an air pocket in the system.
