I want to clean up my truck a little bit by taking all the trim off the exterior of the truck, and spruce up the paint job a little bit. At first I thought I wouls just repaint the whole truck, but after looking closer and reading up, I think I could get by with a body shop giving a good buffer job. I'm also going to put on some fender flares, kind of for looks but mainly to cover up the little bit of rusting going on above the rear fender wells. What will I have to do to keep the rust from advancing any farther than it already has. Also, when I remove all the trim pieces, do you think the paint will be sufficient enough to be salvagable and buff out (as well as how and what to clean with) or will that might have to be repainted?

Off of a 92? The paint will almost be guaranteed a different color from fading I would think.
