Alright guys, Is anyone familiar with the NNBS DOD/AFM delete? Im getting a Lifter chirp from what sounds like the passenger side bank. Im going to do a LS7 lifter swap mild cam and DOD delete. Does anyone recommend a kit or does anyone know what factory cam specs on these trucks?

Has anyone else heard this chirp? It sounds like a belt noise but only with RPM. Removed both belts and noise is still there.

I got rid of my TBSS to avoid problems, Guess this is what i get.

if you do want a stock 5.3 cam, Ive got a 3 bolt style out of my engine. $10 plus shipping.

Chirping could be a bad roller on a lifter. Only way to tell really is by pulling the heads and inspecting. Ive seen lots of Gen IV motors with bad lifter rollers...they either turn inside the lifter tray or they don't get enough oil and scar the cam lobes and start to jam up...hence the chirping.

I know its a rolled lifter. Does anyone know factory cam specs? Im trying to find a mild cam to put into the truck and I'm trying to keep reliability up and fuel consumption down. This is my DD and my family wagon and I dont want excessive lope or anything crazy.

I'll find it for you in a second, it's the same as what's in mine.

*EDIT: Found it, 196/201°, .488" (non-AFM intake valves) and .491" (AFM intake valves), .488" (non-AFM exhaust valves) and .491" (AFM exhaust valves). Not 100% sure of the LSA, but I'd bet 122.5° or something very close.
you probably have LY5

So after speaking with Texas Speed this morning, it appears to be about $1,200 in parts to eliminate the DOD. That price does not include tune, headers, machine shop labor for cylinder heads, or labor. Going with a mild cam on this build, this is my DD Family hauler and still need to get decent fuel economy and smooth idle.

I can post the entire parts list if anyone is interested?

I want to do this. Isnt the DOD delete kit like $400, Cam is around $400, and springs and such? I remember looking into this as well but never completed because for the cam I wanted to go to I needed a new torque converter, and the cost of install for both was astronomical.

I guess I've gotten lucky with mine....mine is a 2011 and I got it with 50k on it in 2013 and I'm at 121k now. I've just ran Mobil 1 and AC delco filter since day one and I just have a custom tune done with the AFM turned off, 93 octane, and the timing bumped up a little. I run the absolute piss out of my truck and it just takes it and keeps on going. Has never even had the slightest tick, chirp, no oil leaks, or any piston slap even on cold mornings. I guess some are just built better or I just got lucky. I know several guys who have had lifter issues in their NNBS. Anyone know why some have the issues and some are fine forever?
