Hi, I'm not the most mechanically inclined but working on a older 85 gmc k2500 my dad left me. I need to drain the old fuel that's been sitting there for I don't know how long. It's not currently running I need to replace the ignition as well. I've been looking tonsee if I can find a video guide on how to do this any links would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Drop the tank and dump it out.
Pull the filler tube, stick a hose in that big hole and siphon it out. Then drop the tank when it weighs about 5 lbs empty, so much easier than when it’s half full.
If you need to drain the tank because it has old gas, you’ll want to pull off the fuel pump and clean it out, and then blow out the fuel lines while both ends are disconnected.
sounds hard but the first time I ever did it, YouTube, blogs and the internet wasn’t around- so you know it’s easy. Time consuming and perhaps a little messy at times…
You might consider splurging on a new gas tank. Vendors make them with a drain cock on them now so it’s much easier to drain… just like a radiator.
