Got in the truck tonight and the driver's side vents are blowing HOT. doesn't matter if it's in VENT, A/C or where it blowing up/down/mixed, all I get is HOT. Passenger side works as advertised. Any ideas where to start?:hmm:

what year? If 03+ it's more than likely the driver's side temp blend door actuator. I had the same problem in my 05 a month ago, took the dealer like 10 minutes to replace for me.
Duh! It's an '06. out of warranty and I refuse to take stuff to the dealer, ESPECIALLY my local dealer. Got back in it today and it works fine. Then I noticed the passenger side lights for the temp slide switch are out. guess I need to take out the control panel and check all of the contacts on the switches. Any info on taking that out before I go out and get a chance to start looking it over?
Mine has done the same thing a couple times now but its been months apart. Mines an 04.
my 05 did it when I disconnect the battery but after about 3 hours it kicked back on.
It's happened a couple of times now. I took the HVAC module out to make sure that all the connections are clean, but it's happened again. If I shut the truck off and start it back up again, it works right again. Anybody have any suggestions other than the module may be going bad?
I'm pretty sure it's the blend door actuator. When your drivers side blows hot, check your passenger side, it will probably be cold. The driver side actuator is really easy to change. It's underneath the passenger dash, where your feet go. Take off that black kick panel thing, and it will be right there.
The passenger side does whatever the HVAC panel tells it to, but yes, when both sides are set to cold, the driver's side is HOT, the passenger's side is COLD.
Anyone have a write up on this ?
My 05 did it. Stop engine, restart it and blows ac. Happened a couple times.

Mine did it a few weeks ago, actator door. Luckily i have extended warrenty.
Would have been $480.

I paid like $130 for the part.. If it's the drivers side then it's really easy to change out. The passenger side is more difficult though.

All you have to do, if your driver side is messed up, is go up under the glovebox and takeoff the black kick panel/cover thing, I think it was 3 or 4 screws. One of them was kind of a pain to get off(the one in the center of the truck). Once that's off, I believe you can see the actuator. Unplug it, unscrew it, put the other one on. I know there was something you had to do first so the actuator wouldn't spin out of control when you first put it on. I'll look for the information about it.

Once the new actuator is in:

Turn the temp control all the way to cold. Pull the HVAC 1 fuse (panel on the drivers side of the dash, top front fuse). Turn the ignition key to run. Leave the key on for at least 1 minute. Turn the key off and put the fuse back in.

An article on how to change it:

This is the cover you have to take off

Just the info I was looking for !! I need to get off my butt and do it. It's happening about every other time I start the truck and if it doesn't start that way within 5-10 miles it turns HOT.

My passenger side seems to be the one blowing hot on my Tahoe...it is really annoying to say the least...anyone know what part number I need to order?

Should i just do both while i am in there?
very common issue, are there any tech threads with a wakl thru?

The passenger side is a pain to change. You have to take off the top dash, remove the metal bar things, and push stuff out of the way. And even then it's still a pain.

These are the metal things you have to remove after pulling the dash. And the Actuator is underneath, if I remember correctly.

If you can remove the AC tubes, or whatever they're called, it'd be a lot easier.

Mine is doing the exact same thing. Passenger side works fine but getting nothing but hot air on the drivers side.

Does anybody know what the damn Part No. for an '04 model is? I've checked Rock Auto and they have about a dozen different options for that year model.
I'm having the same problem. Passenger side blowing hot drivers side cold. I switched the two actuators to see if one was bad, but the same thing happened. Everytime I restart the key and turn a/c on the door actuator cycles back and forth once then stays on the hot side. And the drivers side works as advertised with the other actuator installed. So I don't think it is a door blend actuator. What else could it be?
I heard you can get a reflash to fix it.Mine did it again after the repair. Now i turn off the ignition, wait a minute, restart and all is well.

DORMAN Part # 604106 More Info {OE Solutions #89018365}

I'm pretty sure that's what I ordered for mine. Don't quote me on it though. Just do a little searching.

Are you sure you changed out the correct actuator? I know there are a few of them. I saw at least 3 when I changed my passenger side.
