Ok, I'm new on the amplification tech scene....and have a dumb question. Why does my 1200w spl brand amp have to have the bass boost and gain turned all the way off/down for it to sound good in my 2k suburban? Does the suburban have a stock amp built in that is upline from the amp?

It's 1200 bridge into two 12" that are in parallel

Is the amp bridged and what are the ohms of the speakers? and is the name of the amp SPL?

yes, its bridged, unknown impedence, yes, the brand of the amp is SPL.

1) Who did the install?
2) Was a HiLo adapter (speaker to RCA) used? If so, where were the connections made?
2) What subs are you using?

2. Yes, line out converter, model HLC-600, connection made at the speaker cable line just before the stock sub in back, which I unplugged.
3. Haven't taken the box apart, but they say "Impulse" on the front.

I think the whole thing is a generic setup, but man does it sound good.

I think that's the problem. The stock sub is amplified, and the LOC may be connected to the output side of the stock amp. I've always installed LOC's behind the HU.
