My dad has a 2006 Silverado with the 4.8 v8. He drove to the Casino and went in and when he came out an hour later and went to drive off he hit the gas and it would only go 30 miles an hour. It has a message saying engine power reduced. Anyone got any ideas???? Please help!!

you mean 4.8 i assume. when mine does it i shut it off and restart and its fine. have him check trans fluid. is there a cel?

Drive by wire most likely. My 03 with the 4.8L is drive by wire so I am assuming that your 06 is as well.

Mine did that and it was the throttle actuator or something similar. Mine is drive by wire.
