I have a 97 tahoe with the 5.7 vortec. What options are there for more power? Is displacement limited by the manifold set up with the poppet style injectors? I want more power/torque to tow the boat.

I live in Cali and have smog, so I have to throw that curveball in there.. lol

Do a 383, sensible cam, retain emission devicies, and the Marine intake.

You could...

A 383 is SO cheap to build it's not even funny. I think we found some $1600 short blocks online. Nod iron crank, Ibeams, and hyper slugs. Not a bad deal for a tow motor. :imo

Where did you see these at?? Can you PM me the links?

I wonder if a cam, heads, and marine intake would be a better option. The 393's I found were over $3,000.

Does the vortec 5.7 have a crank sensor?

A search should turn up the links. They were hyper piston, I beam, nod iron motors. More than adequate for a tow rig.

392? You stroking a Ford now with a 3.85" crank? :anitoof:
