Its alllll opinion. I love the sound of my flowmaster though. Its loud enough to set off the occasional car alarm, quiet enough not to drive me too insane on long trips with a trailer, and has a nice throaty sound.

exhaust sound is completely subjective. :read:

gibson honestly doesnt sound like anything to me. its just a deep sound. no real tone or anything IMO.

i prefer the smooth performance growl of magnaflow on these new motors. flowmaster sounds good too though.

magnaflow performs the best though if you need serious flow.

being as you didnt say what kind of truck, year, or motor you have nobody can possibly give you any kind of advice though........ ;)

Get either ASM or TOG headers, and a cat-back system to compliment it.
Doesn't matter what cat-back you go with, those headers will give it a loud, bad ass sound. :D
I have Magnaflow cat-back and it sounds good. Very chill when I'm easy on it, and screams at WOT.
I always loved the sound of Flowmaster, I put one on when I first got my truck, but of course it's all opinion.

for a good start, do:

-Flowmaster 40 series w/ dual outlets
-K+N FIPK intake(or something similar w/ a heat shield and non-restrictive cold air intake)
-180 degree thermostat
-Then if you are still un happy.... get the Hypertech chip or the Nelson Tune

u'll see the most gain out of these mods first. Later you can go with headers, a bigger Throttle body, injectors, etc.

i got a 1994 GMC Sierra, its got the 5.7 lt 350 V-8, i have also done a 4/6 drop and am about to throw on some 20's.

so... as for perf upgrades... go with a cat back, kn intake thingy, and a thermo.... sounds good.

thanx.....

what about pc upgrades.... what should i go for??
keep in mind i still have the TBI on my truck.

for the TBI.....screw the K&N, the gains are minimal on a TBI and not worth the money. If you're looking for looks, then go for it, otherwise i'd just do a drop in k&N and call it good. There isn't much for PCM upgrades on the TBI's, although there are a few chips out there, none of which I have looked into.

see i knew everyone would through out useless info due to assueming you had an NBS truck

like Gumbo said, the intake kits for TBI are a complete waste of money. i had one on my 94 and it barely did anything.

for intake, hypertech makes a few nifty products. look into a CFM-tech tb spacer too. i always wanted to cut up my stock intake kit and try to make a DIY setup with the hypertech parts(look at their website) and run some tubes down by the framerails to get cold air.

if you want to buy a stock 94 TBI intake setup to experiment with let me know ;) i still have all the pieces and a K&N filter(stock replacement)

for exhaust, a single 3 inch pipe with a high flow muffler will help out alot. as will a good set of headers. thorley and edelbrock make some good mid lenth headers. gibson, jba, edelbrock all offer shorty headers too.

you could upgrade some of the ignition. im not sure how those jacob's kits work. but i hear good things.

other good mods: pulley, e-fans, cam swap(will need custom tuning), and of course, NOS and a supercharger :)

good luck
