probably just because it's such a pain to get a good shot at night... using the flash at the wrong angle can create a reflection, etc.... and the fact that I am too lazy doesn't help..... Kinda like trying to take picture of undercar neon or LED at night....requires some good photog skills to get it right....

only if he is low on fuel. if not then he might have the door open. some times it says security when i have my door open. but it shouldnt stay on all the time.
