the fuel pump was probably pretty hot. i always heard that after your fuel level drop below 1/4 of a tank, you fuel pump is half way submerged in fuel and it heats up faster and cause more wear. but then again you always hear about those poeple who buy new cars and drive them for ever and always fill up when the low fuel light comes on.
