Exhaust Cutout

Hey I want an exhaust cutout on my 2009 GMC Sierra. My only problem is I do not understand how a manual one works. I understand that you unscrew the plate and it flows out, but it would make more sense if there were somehow two plates because wouldn't the exhaust still try and flow through the stock pipe instead of out the cutout? Also when the plate s screwed on and it is quiet is it robbing power trying to escape out of the cutout but it cant? Thanks

the exhaust is going to find the path of least resistance, which would be the cutout. sure, a little exhaust gas might go through the stock pipe, but most will come out the cutout.

Just like water! :shake:
Ok cool, got that part. Now when it is closed is it robbing any horsepower trying to go through the cutout and bouncing around trying to escape through the stock pipe? And should I put it before my cats? What is the best one
