As most may know I got my exhaust put on nothing fancy just a single in dual out spintech.on the way home I smelled something funny but no smoke or anything. After climbing under the truck today I found 3 places.on the left side at the frame where it makes the bend goin to the y.where the exhaust goes over the Trans crossmember and on thr frame right behind the flex pipe.ive also noticed that the exhaust piping has turned a goldish bronze color.im assuming its getting SUPER hot as its melting the undercoating and where the y pipe meets above the trans crossmember its melted completly and even the metal is blueing.

has anyone else experienced this and how do I fix it? I assumed a tune but I didnt think just exhaust would make it do all that anyways. truck is a 2012 gmc sierra 6.2

sounds like to me you have flames inside your exhaust for it to be getting that hot...or you have an extremely bad restriction in the exhaust in that area where its getting so hot. thats all i can think of on a gas truck.

Wow! I'm not a chevy pickup mechanic by no means. But was it running rough or did you notice anything at all different then normal? It might have shut down on you as a safety precaution I mean as I said I'm not a GM mechanic. I work on semi trucks and heavy equipment. But it sounds like to me from what experience on gasoline engines I have. since the exhaust was running so hot is you might have like I said previously a major exhaust blockage or restriction. I've seen the new DEF systems on diesels stop up due to a failed regeneration and exhaust temp would get high enough to shut the truck down. So you may a problem like this or something different. Could be coincidence that your exhaust got that hot and this happened. I'd have to be there and see what's going to give a better analysis of what you problem might be.

I would go back to whoever installed the exhaust they must have done something wrong. A new muffler shouldn't cause that much excess heat

Its pretty obvious he is getting excess fuel thru his exhaust and its burning in the pipes causing the heat. Any time the check engine light is flashing you should shut it off bc it only flashes when your engine is misfiring badly which would explain the raw fuel burning in your exhaust. Need to get it scanned and fixed b4 something gets ruined

After leaving the truck there for 3 weeks they found water in the tank which they say caused the misfire.so I get the truck home and when I go to crank it the next morning it knocks so badly it shakes and sputters.called roadside assistance they came and picked it up again.it gets to the dealership and they say oh it just needs a oil change thats normal lifter noise when its cold lol.i went there yesterday drove around before I drove off and noticed my oil pressure was just above 20 lbs. I know my truck and it has never seen under 40 pounds.it increased to almost 40 when acclerlating but drops right back down at cruising speed.idk about everyone else's truck but my 04 sierra has damn near 80 psi at wot and NEVER drops below 40.any suggestions comments anything are greatly appreciated

Ur fucked. Oil psi should never be that low on that new motor. Any dealer that says that's normal can eat shit.

I'm guessing he has the LC9 motor. They have 799 heads. Not castech.

Number is on the heads themselves. Castech heads were on a couple different casting number heads.
