You could do that I don't know what the stealership charges, but it would be cheaper to get some new ones from ebay. You can program them yourself just have to do a little searching to find out the procedure.
Buy one on ebay like truckmann said and program it yourself (the website is Http://www.programyourremote.com. Place I got it from was Midwest Keyless. $30 including shipping and a spare key. Just programmed it tonight, works perfect. Save you some cash.
I believe these are the instructions you need.

1.Close all the vehicle doors.
2.Insert the ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder.
3.Press and hold the door unlock switch.
4.While holding the door lock switch in the unlock position, cycle the ignition ON, OFF, ON, OFF.
5.Release the door unlock switch. The doors will lock and unlock to confirm the program mode.
6.Press and hold the LOCK button and the UNLOCK button simultaneously on one transmitter. After a delay of approximately 15 seconds, the doors will lock and unlock to confirm the programming of that transmitter.
7.Repeat the previous step to program up to 4 transmitters.
8.Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position in order to exit the keyless entry transmitter programming mode.
9.Operate the transmitter functions in order to verify correct system operation.

this would have helped before the dealership took $50 :(
ahah sweet guys...Now the problem is mine is a 99, and has different remotes for different year trucks right..

And I dont have the stock remotes..so how do I know which ones I need..cause you need to match the #'s on the back to ur current ones correct??
do you think that any remote from a 99 on Ebay will work?? Cause i dont ahve the stock remotes so i dont know the #'s
Search for the remote for a 99 Ebay (like I said, I used Midwest Keyless on there), then go to the site I linked and find the instructions for a 99, you should be good then. Mine worked right away and I didn't check any numbers at all.
so you do or dont have the factory keyless remote? If so, there is a GM/LEAR code on the back. That's the remote you need to look for. If not, goodluck. I purchased a keyless for my uncle's 99 off of ebay a while back and it worked but he didnt have the original remote either. i guess i got lucky.
yah i know..duece i bought my truck off of gave me one set..and it got bitch and somehow lost it..my buddies gonna see if he cna get my the numbers on the back..hes a gm parts guy...hopefully!
