Right now have a Kenwood kdc-mp5032 head unit in my 2000 extended cab just running the stock speakers. I listen to everything from loud Tool, Nirvana, etc, to acoustical music, to talk.

My plan is to get:

MB Quart Q-Line 216 Signature Component Speaker System
Kenwood KAC-8452 Multi-Channel Amp
Rockford Fosgate Power CP8CKDS Amplifier Wiring Kit

And mount the amp and crossovers behind the rear seat. Then at some point I'll probably get something like a single10" JL in a smaller box under the rear seat.

I don't have much experience with car audio. What do you guys think?

I wouldnt spend quite so much on the Q's, unless you can get them cheaper. MB Quart has always had a good product. I'd go with one of their cheaper lines, that way you could get a woofer and an amp for it.

Kenwood normally isn't my first choice on amps, but I'm sure that one will be fine.

For the wiring kit, go ahead and get a 4 gauge kit so when you do add another amp for a woofer you don't have to run another wire. Go ahead and run 3 sets of RCA's too (front, rear, sub).

this kit would be better
or this one

I dont think Id go for that kenwood either, but it is ok
Id rather do this one
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7635856&type=product&productCategoryId=cat03086&id=1141762608599
or the Alpine F450 which they dont have listed on BBs site

and as far as seperates Id go with some Focals. Hell if you want a pair of $750 speakers, dont go putting them on half of a $200 amp! Much less split the highs and lows on it where the bass will be sucking away some of the power from the highs everytime it hits!

Also, remember Cardomain does price matching. I just got them to price match a Kicker CK44 kit that they list for like $95 down to $51 and change.

Thanks for the input, everyone.

You sold me on the Rockford Fosgate amp and the install kit. I plan on getting another amp and a single 10" box in the not too distant future, and I don’t mind waiting til then to have optimal sound.

My first choice on speakers was the Focal 165K3P Upgraded, but I can't find Focal at a reputable on-line retailer, and I'm not sure if I have enough install depth for the rear speakers. (Mine's a 3 door)

Focal does not allow online sale (authorized). See here for more info on it, problems with counterfits, etc. http://www.focal-fr.com/counterfeit.htm There are places that sell it, they just aren't authorized. If you're ok with that, I've heard good stuff about this seller on eBay. THE12VKINGS
He has other stuff, I just linked you to his Focal items. They change fairly regular. You could probably even ask if he can get you specifics sets. Personally, I bought my Focals from a guy who bought them authorized and then decided he wanted the next model up.

And on wiring, I think Kicker makes some of the best. VERY flexible wiring.
