Thursday night while parked at work it appears someone was trying to break in!! I came out from my shift to head home (midnight b/c I work swing) and as I approach the SS the drivers window looks all smudgy. First thing I thought was "Damn, I'm slipping on my details that window looks like shit"

When I got closer it became obvious that someone had been trying to force my window down to get in. I immediately FREAKED!! Had I startled the guy when I came around the corner?? if so where was he so I could cave his skull in. A few seconds later one of my coworkers comes around the corner and notices his window was pryed down... his cell phone, charger, and change from his ashtray were missing along with his diabetes meds. We called the cops and filed a report, but they said the prints were far too smudged and in the event they did get a clean print there wouldn't be much of a chance of catching anyone. Because my coworkers stereo was still intact and nothing else was missing the cops seemed to think it was probably a tweaker just looking for easy money to buy his next high.

So there goes my sense of security. Called up a local shop and made sure they had what I wanted in stock and dropped the truck off this morning for install. Going with a Clifford 50.7x, also going with a secondary kill switch which will be hidden elsewhere inside (not gonna say where) that only I will know about... the placement of this is pretty genius...

Any feedback on the 50.7x?? I wanted something with 2 way and also figured I might as well add remote start while I'm at it. I know essentially all alarms are DEI now, I just happened to like the look/feel of the Clifford fob better than the viper equivalent.

Talking with the cops and the guy at the shop this morning they both said its getting more and more common as the economy gets shittier. People who would only troll the bad areas to steal shit have started migrating into other areas trying to pick up 'better' stuff.

Fucking pisses me off to no end that you just can't have anything nice without some douche-cycle trying to take it from you b/c they're too ignorant, lazy, scummy, or a combination of all those to work for it themselves.

Hopefully between this and Onstar there will be enough deterrents around my vehicle that they'll move on to something else before taking stuff from me. If not I'll be forced to leave a half starved pitbull in my back seat from now on.

I hate the feeling of knowing someone might have been trying to get into your truck or scoping it out. My neighbor caught 2 guys creeping around my truck last month and scared them off, I was down in San Diego when it happened and they called me and talk about stomach turning

that totally sux...glad your ride wasn't damaged or missing anything.

i used to install switches in police cars that were under the carpet like the old style high beam switches...you have to step on it to get the vehicle out of park. that way if a cop is in a pursuit and jumps out of the car and left it running unless you know that switch is there you can't get it in drive.

Your stock alarm didn't go off? Each time I've had to break into my truck (locked the keys in) my alarm has gone off.

Glad nothing got stolen, sucks to hear someone attempted it though.
Nope... you practically have to toss a cinder block at my window to get the POS stock one to go off. Most cases you have to open a door or trigger something that pulls a current (ie dome light) I want this thing sensitive enough to sense attempted entry, but not so sensitive that it goes off everytime a honda with a fart can drives past. Gonna probably spend some time playing with the settings.

:word: that alarm is sick, i want the viper 5901, hadnt seen the clifford yet but maybe ill look into it. how much is the complete setup running you dylan? if you dont mind or PM/text me
Viper and Clifford are now both owned by Directed Electronics, so I'm sure the top of the line clifford and the top of the line viper are identical now, except for the key fobs anyways.

I'll text u in a minute.

Shitty Dylan...:nono:
Its not all bad, I mean... it forces me to get an alarm, but at the same time its an excuse to add another toy to the tbss... remote start, remote cabin temp, etc. Should be fun to play with at least.

btw, one thing I hate about those new ones, is that the valet and LED is on the antenna, so not in a good place aimed into the dash
Id suggest taking that one away and adding 2 LEDs to the A-pillars, its a huge display

i hate that feeling, at my old place 2 guys that looked totally out of place for my condo's but not oakland were trolling around. Noticed them right away, but i had to get gas for my wifes car........ so i went down the street to the gas station then did a quick drive by. The motherfuckers were sitting across from my truck just pointing and staring... so i was beyond pissed pulled back in got in my truck and parked it on base. I didnt say shit to the guys as i did not want to die. Well the next my moring my truck was tucked away safely on base, but an escalde on some rims that parks near me had the rear window smashed in.

Not much... we're doing some detail trade out... they have a couple of cars they're working on and the techs have swirled and scratched the ever living hell out of the fenders leaning into the engine bay.
i hate when people do that just lean on your car and think nothing is going to happen.:lazer:
