You do mean molding in the pan right? The guy I took my truck to the 1st time did it for free cause for some reason he thought it'd be easier to install that way. It all depends on how good quality you want. I wouldn't pay anymore than $500 though if they do everything.

I have a Street Scene urethane roll pan and its starting to really look shitty - its warping at the bottom edge and the fitment hasn't been good from the beginning...
Thinking about biting the bullet and getting a Sir Michaels to replace it, wondering how much it usually is to get it blended in with the fenders
So about how much are we talking for paint/shave? Also how much for a tailgate handle shave?
I just put on the escalade handles and I'm wanting to fix my fugly roll pan to make the truck exterior more complete :insane:

yeah If I did the body work and paint then I'd charge about $150 to install, weld up, apply body filler, sand, and paint. As for the tailgate I'd probally charge around $125 to fill in all the holes, tailgate handle, and install the relocator kit on the inside of the truck. But that's me

That's how much I paid to have all the stuff to my bed done and painted. I didn't mean to say for paint to because I don't have a real good place to paint. That's what I'd charge just for the body work. But my old bodyman charged me $600 to shave the handles, tailgate, mold in the pan, shave the stake pockets, and paint everything that he had worked on, not blend. He did a pretty good job. The place where I get my supplies at gives me a %15 discount on everything I buy which doesn't sound like much, but adds up over time. Where I live body work is pretty cheap, it's when it comes to paint that it's hard to find a good painter around here.
Yea I guess alot of people that get it done know someone that can hook them up....The shop that painted my urethane pan had to re do it a bunch of times to get it to look decent, and they had a very nice shop/oven room (if thats what theyre called) - and basically I dont want to take it back to them especially if I had to leave my truck there. They wanted $250 to paint the pan, install the liscence plate light and paint my SS mirrors - which I thought was reasonable, and they also buffed out some scratches on my truck for free b/c of the mess up on the pan the first time.
But overall I dont trust some people enough to leave my truck there. Might just drop off the roll pan to get painted, install it myself and later on get everything shaved including the 3rd brake light.

They line up better than any I've ever seen, But I'd have it welded in no matter what, makes the rear look alot better when it's welded IMO
Yeah Sir Michaels or Custom Classic. I have a Custom C. on mine. Some people like the Sir Mike some like the Custom. I like em both myself. Paint shop prices will vary. When I was getting my hood and rollpan painted I asked around and got prices from $250 all the way up to $450. I finally found a painter to do the hood and rollpan for $175! I take all my stuff there now!!! He only charged me $40 to paint my SS mirrors.
Molded looks much cleaner, and makes the rear end look much better. Just shop around at different shops, and you'll find a good price, dont you have a buddy or anything or can do the install for you? then you could just take it to the paint shop.

hey i have a question....i was talking to a body guy and he was telling me about molding the roll pan...and he was saying instead of using bondo or some other kind of filler alone....he would seal off the welds and then use fiberglass to fill the gap and then sand and smooth and then paint.....does that sound right???????///
well I could install it, I put on my urethane one, but I couldnt do any of the welding or what not - I'd probably let the shop do all the work so i know its positioned right and everything

I haven't seen anyone use fiberglass on metal for the rollpan. I've seen a fiberglass pan molded to a fleetside bed, why ever someone wants to do that for.
