Hey guys. Ive got this rotational knocking noise coming from the front diff but Im not sure what is creating it. Its definitely not the CV shafts. I just changed both of those out. Also it only happens when the 4WD is engaged. Would it be my gears or bearings? Ill have to split the casing but before I do I just want to see what Im in for and if anyone has had this problem before.

Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

Have you checked your driveshaft for any play? As well as the pinion and axle flanges (the ones that the CV's bolt to)?

CV flanges are pretty tight and have very little play. Front driveshaft has a little play in it but isnt that normal? Or should there be no play?

Mine has a little play. It is from the coupler (slip joint). Yours shouldnt have any at the joints (that's what I was getting at). If the shaft is tight at the joints and the pinion is tight (virtually no play) you are looking at an internal issue.

if you throw off a cap on one of your u joints you'll get a little knock. lol.

My 99 had a knock noise coming from the front like what you described. Then it blew up and had to be replaced
