I was wondering if it is possible to swap in a 3/4 ton 9.25 diff into a half ton Z-71. I haven't really looked at the differences in the two. All I am sure of is that there isn't a locker for the 8.25 IFS diff and that is the reason for the swap. Has anyone ever done this? What all would be involved?

Anything is possible with enough imagination and a welder.

With that said its not worth it. Its totally different. The CVs wont bolt to the half ton spindles, the diff wont bolt into the frame mounts, its really a nighmare. It works ok on the OBS with some modiification but not on the nbs. The amount of money and worked needed would make a SFA a much better option.

Darn...I'm just weighing my options. I didn't know they were that different.

On a side note...I need to get some pics of truck so someone can make me a cool sig. My posts look to plain with everyone else having cool truck sigs. :bowtie:
