1998 gmc k1500 5.7. Installed new few fuel assembly and before strapping the tank back up I connected the negative battery terminal and switched the key in the on position to hear if the pump was engaging and it didn't make a sounds. Do i have to have the tank strapped up and level or something? First thing I'm doing this morning is going to get a fuel pump relay but I don't think that's the problem. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

When you first turn the key to the on position, there's only a 3 second prime then the pump shuts off. If you have a multi meter or power probe check for power at the pump connector

At the pump connector I probed the four prongs. 2 are grounds. 1 is the sender signal. 1 is pump power. The pump power one (gray wire) is not getting any juice to it
