on my 06 sierra 5.3 ECSB, with a 3.73:1 ratio I got 19.6 MPG according to my calculations and the DIC. This was on a evening drive to LA, from the SF Bay Area. Temps were about 72*, I drove at 74 with AC on and cruise.

I did the same speed coming back, AC on, and again used my cruise. Now my mileage dropped down to 17.8....... WTF???? Oh and it was day driving and temps were around 105*. Was my drop due to the heat?

It's a truck, dude. 19.6 is great. Also, don't forget about wind and terrain affecting mileage as well. If you went up more hills coming back then your mileage will be worse.

I made a trip before but when I drive I just put it on 65 and just enjoy the air, but I got 22.3 on the way there and on the way back I got 19 but I drove the same roads but on the way up there it felt easier to pick up speed. If the wind is blowing hard enough and is going with the truck then yea it makes a big diffrence.

yeah, driving back the wind was still, but I guess driving over to la I must have had a good tail wind?

Keep in mind there was a big temperature difference between the two outings. Going from 72 to 105 is a big change. I'd say that explains a good part of it. But both those mileages are good regardless. No matter how I drive, I always get 16 in my Yukon. And thats with a tune

I have an 02 Silverado ECSB (avatar) modded with a MIT, TrueFlow filter, and Flowmaster exhaust. The mods allowed 0.5-1 more mgp. I get 17-18 average but on a long trip I've seen 24.

I get 11-12 MAX in my NNBS...It does have 35" tires and a 6" lift.
damn that sucks...i just clocked between 15-17.9 on a recent trip in my 05 sbcc and i've got 4.10's (stock) and 35's on an RCD 6". What gear ratio do you have?

pretty simple really..

Hotter IAT's = pulled timing/rich AFR = worse gas milage.

Completely normal.

I'm at 23.3 MPG per DIC currently. Thats on a blown 6.0

My bone stock 2wd 04 Sierra rc Short bed with 5.3l/3.73 combo would barely get 18 mpg hwy(in optimal weather with me in driving miss daisy mode). While my new to me 4wd 05 Silverado ext 5.3l/3.42(I'm assuming haven't looked) combo is surprisingly getting 20-21ish mpg hwy. My dads 2wd 08 Silverado ext 5.3l/3.73 combo is barely mustering 17 mpg on hwy. All hand calculated.
