My truck cam from the factory with power locks but no power windows. I bought it used so all i got was the key. If i bought a key fob from ebay and did the programming steps, Would it work?

Depends on if it has the transmitter/receiver thing. Honestly, I would say fuck it and just save your money for a nice alarm with keyless entry.

Well i don't want to spend money for an alarm right now. It would just be nice to now have to use the key to open the door every time. How would i know if it has the transmitter receiver.

There is probably an RPO code for it somewhere. I doubt that it has it considering it is a work truck. If it didn't have a remote from the factory, it probably doesn't have the receiver.

Well I dont know if it had a remote from the factory it was a company truck. Also i had the vin run not long ago and its supposedly a base model.

check for RPO code 5L1, AP5, AP3, or UA5. on the sticker in your glove box.

I have the original sticker from the window price and it says power door lock system was 162.00 added to the sticker price.


Well no go on checking inside the glove box. I put a console in and forgot i changed to the glvoebox with it. No idea where mine is now lol

I don't know of any way to do that. Just call the dealer on Tuesday and ask :shrug:

I don't see any of the codes mentioned above. So i don't think you can program a fob to your truck. You may be able to get the module but you might be better off getting an alarm.

if the power locks were installed at the dealership, you probably don't have the transmitter.

hmm wonder where i can find the module. i prefer oem to aftermarket. not looking for the alarm just the keyless option.

you have to do the whole conversion to get the module. you have to change the bcm, pcm, fuse boxes (right and left side of dash), dash harness, door harnesses, and the actual switches. the module is the actual passenger side switch pack.
