Fucking dickhead hit me today. What is the best way to have this damage repaired? I am so anal with my truck that this is a huge stake through the heart. I want to repair it to factory like specs and am willing to pay above insurance claim amount. Just don't want to have problems in the future with rust or anything. The damage is passenger side front and rear doors with minor damage to rocker panel and rear quarter panel paint.

this is killing me...:sad72:

could have the shop try and pop it out then repaint.. if not then look for new doors..

sorry to hear about that

Take it to a couple different places and get quotes. Pick your favorite, let them fix it, and let someone else pay for it. Make sure they replace any damaged panels.

Those doors are beyond saving.

Your looking at replacement panels. Make sure the body shop uses factory GM panels at your request. Otherwise they will most certainly get reproduction panels, tell you they used GM panels, and pocket the extra $$$.

I would want to be there in person when they took them out of the box. Unless you know some paint and body shops on a personal level that you can actually trust.

Go to a few shop's and see which one you like better. check out reviews on google, or people ya know.

If it was at my shop I would write it to replace both doors, either good condition used doors, or new door shells, repair the quarter, and blend the front fender.

You seem particular about your truck so I wouldn't suggest door skins as you would most likely see something you wouldn't like. and once you break the factory skin and seam you are just waiting for some kind of rust/ corrosion.

just my opinion for ya. hope you find a good shop.

You of course have the option of collecting the check yourself, purchasing the parts that YOU see fit to use, and then outsourcing to the shop of your choice for the spray... If you're lucky you can find black doors in good shape. The rocker panel replacement is going to be the interesting part. Not many body shops around that can mask that factory weld line good enough to match the factory.....

Looks like the intrusion beams are bent which is good. Means time for a whole door instead of a skin. Got any pics of the rocker damage? I work in a body shop. I always try to write to detrim enough to have plenty of room to blend jambs. I'd get a few different estimates submit them and say you want all factory parts. If your not happy with the insurance the guy has file it under yours get it fixed the way you want it and then your insurance will go after the other insurance company for the money. Just make sure you ask what kind of paint the shop uses (I.e DuPont, axalta, PPG nothing cheap) and make sure they offer a lifetime warranty.

Fix it and sell it. It will never be perfect again when you look at it if you are truly anal about it

I am going to push for OEM door shells and not skins. I am taking it to a shop that I know the owner and trust him. He does high end and modded cars. Thanks for all the advise, you guys brought up good points. I hope the repairs will be up to my standards.

Maybe describing the "rocker panels" was a bad location. The rockers are fine, it's the lower area behind the rear door. There is a hard crease there that's distorted, but I don't think it will be too bad.

take it to the dealer body shop, ask for them to use OE parts, if there's any damage to the b-pillar or rocker, they can order a uniside for the truck and replace it all without patching

A friend of mine just got his truck back from the dealer and I was not impressed. I was going to tell the body shop I am using to order OE parts and request nothing short of door shells not skins.

Oh and sorry not quarter panels... Front bottom of the bedside. And lower c pillar at rocker height.

Depends on how anal you are about your truck. You'll always notice what isn't perfect.

Guy side-swiped my '03 with his bass boat in 2011. It took 3 different body shops to satisfy me. Even still I scrutinize the tiniest imperfections on that section of my truck.

Get it fixed the way you see fit and hopefully you will be happy.

I hope your buddy does solid body work. Cause it'd be harder for you to stress your disdain with his work (as a friend) than it would be with another reputable shop.

All of these guys telling you to get rid of your truck are idiots. They're doors and it's just body work. Take it to a reputable shop. Most insurance companies have shops hooked up on their programs and will put a full warranty on any work they do. Just make sure you inspect it when you go to pick it up. Make sure the doors don't pop when opened, paint isn't full of dirt nibs, and the color is within reason. The doors will be full of rock chips in 6 months from the wider tires you're running anyways.

Better yet, go through your own insurance, pay your deduct. They'll send what was paid out to the other insurance company once the claim is finalized and the other company will generally reimburse your company for everything paid out along with your deduct. More often than not it's easier to have your insurance company in your corner than someone's you've never dealt with.
