Neato, eh?

Went to meineke yesterday morning and shelled out the money for them to put the 40's on. My truck had factory 3" dual tubes, so I had them cut off the stock muffler and make adaptors for the 2.25" flows. Had them dump it right before the RR tire. Total cost was 100 for the flows, and 150 for the install. They did a decent job. Reason I went with the 2.25 40's is to keep some backpreassure, and becuase the smaller tube has a bit more rasp.

Initial impressions...
Sounds great! Nice low rumble, and sounds totally evil after 3k. Everyone looks at this thing now and gives me thumbs up. Picked up a little power throughout the entire rev range. Most noticable around 2500+, but the lowend is slightly improved as well.

The flows are starting to break in a bit now, and its sounding better and better. I would say I gained maybe 10 horses tops, and about 5lbs on the torque side. Seems to be getting slightly better mileage as well. Biggest difference is the sound, which I am totally stoked over.

Headers are coming next, and it will sound even better and have far more power.

Congrats on the exhaust. I just got a 40 orginial dual outlet on my truck last week. I didn't drop it, though. I had it come out behind both of the rear wheels with chrome tips. It look great. I one day, I went through almost a quarter tank of gas becuase I was constantly on the throttle so I could hear my exhaust. :D Do you think that dropping your exhaust makes it sound much louder Kilborg?

To whoever asked: Yeah, they are definently a bit louder dumped right at the tire then with a dual outlet in the rear. I pulled up to a guy with a similar setup on mine with a ecsb halfton with dual exits, out the rear and mine was far louder. I also have 3" dual tubing whereas 80% of the other vortec's I see have 2.25's or a single pipe. The biggest problem so far is the outside pipe comes into contact with the helper leaf real slightly, but thats getting fixed tommorow morning.

Next I'm getting headers...probably stainless JBA shorties..Then I'm saving up for 4.55's and a new centerforce clutch.
