I am putting the harmonic balancer back on my 4.8 and wanted to know if I need to use an installation tool and does it need a new bolt. Thanks

u need a longer bolt to help press it in....for the love of god dont hammer it in....and u need a new oem bolt

you can put the balancer in the sun for abit to help, I usually use the old bolt to get it the rest of the way on.
I run a ARP bolt and can reuse but if you are staying stock you will need a new bolt

I use a ratchet strap on the flywheel and have also used a tool that replaces the starter and stops the motor from turning over

Not sure I can get a hold of the flywheel tool. Ed, I saw your belt method in the cam thread for removal. What about during reinstall?

Anyone have tips for reinstalling the pulley without the flywheel tool?

I have mine on an engine stand and used a large screwdriver or rod and put through the stand and flywheel.

Ended up using a strap wrench. Worked alright.
