I have been collecting parts for a year now and it is time for the last step, before the installation starts!

What cam do you all think I should go with? I am looking for great street/strip use with an aggressive lope! I would like the power to be in the 2000rpm to 6500rpm range. Please keep in mind that the truck is a 5.3L, full bolt-on, T56, w/ 4.56s gears! I run 28" & 29" tires depending on if it is street or track. I will be using Allen for a mail order tune and then either doing the fine tuning myself or I am going with a local dyno tune. You can (click here) for the bolt-ons I have now.

I have thought about! Maybe some time in the future! It would only be a 100 shot though, if I don't get addicted to it!

:hmm: I would think that would be way too big for my 5.3L.

If your gonna get good heads. Might as well put them to use!! I was gonna put the 228R in my 6.0 if that says much. Just a touch over the 224, yet a little mroe duration/lift for the 6.0.

The heads are just stock ones with a little work to them. Nothin big, they are not even P/P!

If you haven't done the heads yet, I'd pass on that 2" intake valve

Heads are done! All I need is water pump gaskets and cam!

228R is a nice cam for sure... whats your compression going to be looking like once its all done??

I voted 228. I orginally wanted to get this cam for my 5.3 but ended up going a different direction. I think it would be a GREAT cam for a 5.3 with headwork

I think ~10.2. Wish it was higher, but the heads are already done.

Any clue on about how much more power I will gain with the 228R and the above parts?
