09 2500HD with a 6.0L, started to search salvage yards for a engine and they told me 2009 was a year by its self?
One told me I would have to change frt cover and maybe intake. thats not a big deal to do
but another said about the cam profile being different, will that cause a issue if I buy a newer 6.0L
and install it using all the 09 electronics? Was thinking I would just have to transfer what was different in order
to install and hookup

You should have an LY6 which was in the 07-09's, not JUST 09. L96 replaced it which is essentially the same but flex fuel capable. Block, heads, cam, etc are all the same. You can use either and just keep your injectors so you don't need to reflash. The L96 uses flex fuel injectors. I'd just swap over your intake assembly with rails, injectors, throttle body etc over to the replacement if you happen to pick up an L96, however, the LY6 shouldn't be that hard to find.

OK, I got truck shipped home, and found bad lifter, so we replaced all lifters.
started right up. started it atleast 12 times and moved it @ 40ft. over the next couple of days as we repaired other things in garage. took it out for test drive running fine around block, so drove @ 3 miles to turn around and it slowed and died. sounds like it lost compression when cranking. tested spark & fuel OK.
any ideals??

is it possible for the cam phaser to stick and have the valve timing off?
with timing marks lined up, and #1 piston top dead center
the exhaust valve is already starting to open

Good lord. Does anything look broken? For it to be that far off, something had to have broken, sheared off, etc. Can you post pics?

what am I missing?
tested compression with a old gauge (has worked)
all tested @ 60# except for #7= 0
put oil in cylinders and retested the same.
whats next?
loosen rockers and leak test? But that wouldnt explain the timing?

UPDATE: loosen #7 rockers and pressure tested, no leakage
no noise out of intake or exhaust, very little out of crankcase
unhook at pressure blew back out of hose.
I think something had to happen to the VVT, but have no experience with them
SOMEONE HAS TO HAVE A IDEAL???????

Almost sounds like your cam gear has spun, maybe the bolt was loose and sheared off the pin?

Btr racing has some nice truck cams, And 3 bolt conversion for the cam gear.

Gotta pull the heads to see the damage.

Check for damage on the pistons before replacing.
