I'm in the process of putting lift spindles on my truck, and I can't get the balljoints separated from the stock spindles. I've got a "picklefork" type balljoint separator as indicated in the Haynes repair manual, but can't get them to budge. Is there a trick to this??
dont use a pickle fork, itll fuck up your bj's. the way i did mine was loosen the top bj nut til it was like 3/4 of the way off, take off the tie rod and turn the spindle all the way to the side and take a decent sized sledge to it, dont be scared to hit it good, then once if breaks loose, i put a jack under the lca and put some tension on it and did the same thing, came off in a few hits for me
I got the top one off last night but stopped because it was getting late and the hammer was getting loud. I'll give her a few more wacks this morning and let you know how it goes.
